As a fond farewell before the structure undergoes renovation, David Chipperfield has erected a striking installation in Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie.

Creating a forest inside, his work ‘Sticks and Stones’ features 144 spruce tree trunks arranged in grids within the Mies Van Der Rohe-designed gallery.

For three months the trunks will occupy the gallery floor before it is closed and refurbished by Chipperfield’s architectural practice throughout 2015.
