Dating back more than 180 years, The BNY Mellon Boat Races take place between the crews of Oxford and Cambridge Universities, rowing over a course four miles along the River Thames in London. A significant year, the iconic event will see the women’s team race on the same day as the men’s, the first time in its history.
Every year, Hunter creates the Official Boat Race Boots worn by competitors in training, as well as immediately before and after the race. For the first time, these styles for men and women will be available to shop online and at our flagship store on London’s Regent Street.
The boots are launched as part of the recently introduced Hunter Field, a new brand category, born from our commitment to innovate within our product ranges. An iconic new Hunter Field logo has been developed to mark this category, designed with a green brandmark, which features on this collection. With Hunter Field centring on technical designs for performance, The BNY Mellon Boat Races provide an exciting moment to launch these new boots within the category.
Exclusively designed, the boots are inspired by those worn by the competing crews, bearing the emblems and colours of The University Boat Clubs of Oxford and Cambridge. Based on the shape of the Norris Field boot, the vulcanised rubber boots look to iconic Hunter designs, detailed with our signatures including the buckle strap detail, moustache and calendered sole for grip, while a new and distinctive ribbed layer features at the front.
